Genesis Youth Crisis Center has established itself as a premier child welfare provider in the state of West Virginia. We operate 3 shelters that serve children and youth, ages 6-18 from all 55 WV counties. All shelters facilities provide a therapeutic environment comprised of group interaction, life skills, and behavior management.
Emergency shelter services include 24 hour line-of-sight supervision in a staff-secure setting, Comprehensive Assessment and Planning System (CAPS) to determine child and family needs and strengths, on-staff RN and LPN providing 24-hour care, staff qualified as Approved Medication Administrative Personnel (AMAP), staff trained in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), staff certified in CPR/First Aid, on-site individual, group and family therapy, individual and group supportive counseling by certified staff, on-site therapist providing therapeutic behavior services including functional behavior assessment, intensive behavior management plans, psychiatric and psychological evaluations upon request, individualized comprehensive service plans focused on social, emotional and educational functioning, as determined by clinician administered assessments.
Our Genesis Youth Center location is a state of the art facility that has the capacity for 15 youth, and includes 40 acres of outdoor recreation, visitation room, family style dining, counseling /reading area, entertainment stations, full sized gymnasium, outdoor volleyball court, picnic pavilion and fire pit. Our Alta Vista Children’s Center location is the only shelter in the state licensed to accept children as young as six. It has the capacity for 10 children and includes an industrial playground, visitation room, family style dining, entertainment stations, reading room, access to full sized gymnasium, age appropriate play areas and outdoor recreation space. Our Ridgeline Children’s Shelter, located in Parsons, WV, is our newest shelter and houses up to 15 youth, ages 10 and up.
